This fight looks to be the biggest hyped fight in the last 5 years. It also could be the biggest hyped fight of the next 5 years as well. I know I’ve heard a lot of the hype about the fight recently, and how big of a deal it is supposed to be – but I just recently found out a few things that really pricked my interest.
1.) Mayweather is the son of a semi-famous boxer called “Big Floyd” (Mayweather is referred to as “Little Floyd”). Big Floyd has been Oscar De La Hoya’s personal trainer since he was released from a 5 1/2 year jail sentance that ended a few years ago, during the middle of Mayweather’s career. Big Floyd demanded a $2,000,000 price tag to help De La Hoya train to fight Mayweather, and De La Hoya refused and hired someone else.
2.) Mayweather refers to himself as the greatest boxer of all time, yet cried during a live interview a year ago, completely unprovoked. He has showed some of the psychological quirks typical of great boxers (think Mike Tyson)
