Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony tied an NBA record for most points in one quarter when he had 33 points in the 3rd quarter of Wednesday night’s game vs the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony tied the record set 30 years ago by former Spurs great George “The Iceman” Gervin. Carmelo finished the night with 45 points and a standing ovation. The spectacular performance came on the eve of the first returns of the 2009 NBA All-Star Game ballots. Anthony is currently 3rd in votes at the forward spot behind Tim Duncan and Amare Stoudemire.
