Those attending the December 31st contest between the Clemson Tigers and the South Florida Bulls in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium will see a piece of history, as it will be the last Meineke Car Care Bowl. Next year the bowl will be known as the Belk Bowl; named after a 300 outlet chain of department stores in the southeast United States. It will remain the Belk Bowl for at least three years.
The Meineke Car Care Bowl began as the Queen City Bowl, though it was never played under that name. The naming rights were purchased by Continental Tire and it became the Continental Tire Bowl for the first three years, between 2002 and 2005. Meineke Car Care Centers picked up the naming rights for 2006 and kept them until this year. The conference picks for the future Belk Bowl remain the same: #5 in the ACC and #3 in the Big East.
I trust this will not effect my future muffler purchases, as, lord knows, I would rather not pay a lot for a muffler, and I state that in the most respectful way possible.
There are still tickets available to the Meineke Car Care Bowl, so act now to be a part of history.
