TicketCity Employee of the Month: Gene

Gene G. is TicketCity’s Employee of the Month, and for good reason! Whether wowing our customers with his ninja-like skills, helping a fellow TicketCitian solve a problem, or spreading the word about the latest and greatest band, you can be sure Gene is your go-to guy. Take a peek into the world of Gene.

What was your first job?
I worked at a frozen custard place, called Ritter’s Frozen Custard, when I was 15 years old.

Which sports team is your favorite?
I’m a huge Astros fan, but currently I would have to say the Houston Texans, because they are “in-season”.

What song best describes your life?
Hum….Right now I would have to go with “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes. I chose this song because in the past year I have started a new life with my new family (Wife and baby).

What are your top three favorite bands of all time?
Being a music freak this is a tough one. Let’s see, in no particular order: Ray Charles, East Cameron Folkcore (local, check them out) and Beirut (these change with the seasons).

What would you pick as your last meal?
Rudy’s BBQ (a good sample of everything)

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

What’s your favorite thing about TicketCity?
I love the diversity of the people’s backgrounds and personalities. It creates a fun work environment.

Do you have a favorite customer service story?
I wouldn’t say just one favorite story, but a type of story. It is when a client calls in and they have lost or forgot their tickets. They usually feel helpless and lost all hope at this point. In most cases they have not just let themselves down but other people who were relying on them as well. When we are able to find them new tickets, have their tickets recreated or help them locate their tickets they all of a sudden go from letting everybody down to becoming the hero of the day. People take these experiences with them, tell other people about those experiences and will keep coming back to TicketCity because of those experiences.
