2008 Olympics Games: Beijing China

This years team will be led by NBA regular season MVP, Kobe Bryant. While this Olympic team was assembled without a designated captain to promote a team concept, most see Bryant as the leader of the squad, but LeBron James may be the team’s go-to offensive player. Among the many superstars who make up this 12 man roster, most notably absent from this years roster are prominent former Olympic team members and NBA standout players, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. Allen Iverson, despite being the captain for the 2004 Olympic team, was not invited to train with the 08′ team. Duke University coach Mike Krzyzewski has been selected as the head coach.

Many NBA standouts such as Manu Ginobili (Argentina), Pau Gasol (Spain), and Yao Ming (China) will defect to represent thier native countries teams in the Olympics. Team USA hopes to improve upon its 2004 showing of a bronze medal winning 3rd place finish, behind Italy (Silver), and Argentina (Gold).

Great times at the 2008 Masters

2008 was another fun year at Augusta National as the 72nd Masters finished with major newcomer Trevor Immelman leading wire to wire and donning the coveted green jacket. Tiger Woods couldn’t get his putter going and fizzled out down the stretch to finish 3 strokes back of Immelman. Tiger secured his second runner-up finish in two years.

TicketCity clients and Masters fans alike saw near perfect weather the entire week with minimal play delays due to some early morning fog and frost. The players field saw tough course conditions as the heat and wind played a major factor. Favorite spots of the tournament were still and always “Amen Corner”, and at “the turn”, where you find #1 and #10 tee, and #9 and #18 greens all converging for a prime golf watching location.

At the end of the week, there were a lot of great new memories and experiences shared by satisfied customers. We should be seeing them all back next year!

108th U.S. Open Championship – 2008

Golf’s second major of the season kicks off this week, June 9 -15. Be there as golf’s finest take on Torrey Pines – South Course in La Jolla (San Diego), California.

The 156-man field is made up of American and International professionals and amateurs. Angel Cabrera from Argentina is the defending champion and one of four non-Americans to win the US Open the past four years.

Opening round Thursday finds an all-star pairing with the top 3 ranked players in the world; Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott teeing off at 8:06 a.m pst. They are expected to draw record crowds. Mickelson is the local favorite, a San Diego native who played in several high school matches at Torrey Pines. Adding to the hype is that Tiger has not played a competitive round since he underwent knee surgery two days after the Masters.

Torrey Pines – South Course is a 7,643 yards, par 71. It was designed in 1957 by William Bell Sr. and is only the second municipal golf course ever selected to host this prestigious golf event.
