The Ticketcity Golf Invitational

Wow!!  What a day.  The weather was hot, the beer was cold and the massage girls wher doing there thing.  I sat at the 17th hole relaxing, smoking a cigar and enjoying all the Ticketcity clients, friends and family .   I hit an extra ball for every team that played.  We took pictures, talked about amazing concerts and sporting events and soaked up the brilliant day.  We had stars from Friday Night Lights, Prison Break, KLBJ Radio, ESPN Radio and many more.  We made a bunch of money for the Charity First Tee of Austin and had a tun of fun along the way.  It sure is wonderful to take a day off and give back.  I can’t wait until next years Ticketcity Invitational.

1964 The Tribute

I took my 6 year old daughter to see the Beatles tribute band 1964.  They have been touring for 24 years and have played Carnigee Hall 9 times.  We went to the intimate Paramount Theatre in Austin Texas.  The band dressed in there standard black suits with Skinny black ties, just like they did when they came to the US and played on the Ed Sullivan show.  They were fantastic, playing all there old songs, interacting with each other and using the same old equipment that they did back in the 60′s.  The crowd went nuts when they played We all live in a Yellow Submarine and Twist and Shout.  The fellas definitely looked a little older and a little rounder.   My daughter Kelsey loved the music and the energy was amazing.  We sat on the 7th row right orchestra and the promoter even brought her out a beatles guitar pick.  What a night we had.  She even wanted to make sure I purchased a CD.  Her favorite song that she asks me to play over and over is I Want to Hold your Hand.  Sometimes it sure is amazing to be a dad to a little 6 year old daughter.

I sure do love my job.

Olympics Beijing 8/8/08

I just returned from China two weeks ago and wow, what a party they are getting ready to throw. Beijing is spit-shining the city. They are vaccuuming, airfreshening and scrubbing the streets to make sure all threre guest have the most amazing Olympic experience ever. The stadiums near the Olympic village were still being worked on, but there is no doubt in my mind that they will be finished on time. The Olympic Opening ceremonies is still one of the hottest events as well as swimming and diving. Basketball is also a very popular sport in China, along with Ping Pong and tennis. I even saw a few ping pong raquet clubs while I was visiting. The Olympic village where the athletes are staying looks pristine and comfortable. I am very excited to travel to China in August and be a part of these historic Olympic games in China.

Beijing Olympics

I just arrived in Beijing to get ready for the Olympics on 8/8/2008. I am pleasantly surprised so far, the skies are actually blue today and the people have been extremely nice. Today we are going to check out the Olympic venues and toured the city. The city seems to be very excited for this world event and they are ready to throw a party that we will remember forever. We are off to Shanghai tomorrow and will continue to explore this magical country.

There is no doubt the Beijing Games will be an amazing event.

Super Bowl Experience (learning and growing)

I had the most amazing Super Bowl day ever and it wasn’t from just watching the game. I was returning from Arizona at 11:00am Sunday so I could get back to Texas, relax, and watch the game on TV. For some reason I did not check my bag in front of the airport like I usually do. I went strait to the SWA counter to save a buck. I was in line for about 20 minutes and finally made it close to the front counter. There was a young pregnant women there with her 2 year old daughter. She was talking to the agents and I overheard their conversation, the women’s child was just over 2 years old and was no longer eligible to fly free. The attendants explained she would have to pay and this women was in tears because she did not have any money. Now I do believe in things happening for a reason and thats why I landed in that particular line. I am fortunate to have a few extra rapid rewards tickets so I offered my way assistance to the agent. It made me feel so wonderful to help someone instead of just giving away tickets like we often do for silent auctions and charity events. To tell you the truth I was nearly in tears myself when I saw the tears of joy from this women. I realized at that moment that when you actually give your own personal time and energy to help someone out, that goes so far in helping both parties learn and grow.

My very best!
