Hopefully you’re finding tickets for the topic of a particular blog post linked conveniently from that post.  If it slips one of our posters’ minds, then maybe you’ll need to head over to TicketCity.com and give the search a try.

At the top of all our pages, the Search bar can help you locate that hard-to-find event.

Operation is pretty straight forward, type in and check the results.  They’ll be in 3 categories, “Performers”, “Venues”, “Locations,” depending on how broad your search is. Venues and Locations are pretty straightforward, but Performers is a broad term we use for any kind of band, sports team, tournament, or even theatre show.

For example, searching on “Texas” returns this:

“Texas” is a pretty wide search, so you get everything from college football, to baseball, to rodeo and bowl games in the Performer category.  If you were looking for Longhorns basketball tickets this time of year, then trying “Texas Longhorns Basketball” will probably get you to your destination faster.

Try the most specific verison of your search first.  If that doesn’t work, broaden.  That’s a useful tip for any search.  Our site generally doesn’t map college teams to anything but the most specific queries.

Say you’re searching “Longhorns” in Septermber; you probably want some football tickets.  It’s February, so odds are the same search today would be for basketball tickets.  That’s why you’ll see so many results for a search like that.  So be specific, and if you don’t find what you need, try again, or give one of our sales guys a call (1-800-880-8886).  If it’s out there, they have a good chance of finding it, and maybe getting you an even better deal.

I covered the weekly calendar in a previous post.  Safe to assume, though, that most people think “months” when the term calendar is brought up.  The new TicketCity.com offers a month calendar view as well.  Say you wanted to plan a trip to see the Cowboys one week in August.  The Dallas Cowboys Tickets page, like all our listings pages, has 2 tabs at the top.  Click the “Calendar View” tab.

The default calendar view advanced to the first month where tickets are available.  So, even though we’re in July, the Cowboys calendar view opens on August, the first month where tickets may be purchased.

Rolling over any of the games will provide a pop-up with additional information and a link to purchase tickets.  Move the mouse out of the pop-up and it will disappear.

Navigating the calendar is simple.  A the top, there are 2 large blue buttons that allow you to move forward or back through the months.  You may also use the drop down menu to directly select a month.  Only months with tickets avaialble will be displayed on the drop down menu.

The calendar view is an easy way to get a look at upcoming events for teams, concerts, or any event on TicketCity’s website.

The next part in our look at the new Ticketcity.com shows how the new site handles something Ticketcity has provided for years: transparent checkout. That’s a reasonably fancy way of saying, “you see the total before you enter any payment information.”

In the secondary ticket market, service charges are a fact of life, and TicketCity has one as well. The difference between TicketCity and most other brokers on the web is you see our’s up front, as part of your order total, before ever reaching the checkout screen.

Perhaps you’ve been shopping around for some Yankees tickets. You’ve found the ones you want and added them to your cart:

Note the full list of charges right on the screen. The base cost, the service charge, and any additional shipping fees are all there for you to see before you even reach the checkout page.

Our standard 2-day shipping via FedEx is completely free, though there are other options. If you choose to change your shipping type, the total is updated automatically.

Finally you reach the checkout page, where you may enter your payment information. The price summary is the same as in the cart. You know exactly what your total is as you complete the one-step checkout.

TicketCity is one of the few brokers online with this kind of checkout process. Prices you see on other broker sites may seem cheaper, but they may be hiding their service charges from you until you’ve already entered your payment information. There are no surprises with a TicketCity order.

This is a first in a series of posts that will show off some of the new features of the TicketCity website. Sometimes that’s as easy as plugging your team or performer into the search box and seeing what comes up.

Sometimes you may not know what you’re looking for, or you’re just looking for something to do this weekend. The Calendar View on our City Information pages is designed to make it easy to take in a week’s worth of events in a particular town at a glance.

Here is the basic calendar view for the rest of the week in Austin, TX, showing me what options I have to catch a show this weekend. Friday I could check out the Coz or Eddie Izzard, for instance. If nothing else, I know I have some extremely varied choices in stand-up.

I can choose to sort the view by type of events, if I’m looking only for theatre, comedy, or shows.

If I rollover one of the entries, I get more information on that particular show. It displays the venue information and gives me the option to view the available tickets. Rolling the mouse outside the pop-up window will remove it.

Finally, if I need to plan ahead, I can use the date selector to choose a different week of events to display in the Austin area.
