We were recently in New York City and had the chance to catch a New York Mets game at Citi Field.  Citi Field is the new Mets ballpark that opened at the start of the 2009 baseball season.  Citi Field is a gorgeous baseball field that was built to seat 41k Mets fans, and there is hardly a bad seat in the entire stadium.  It is located in Flushing, New York (near Queens) right next to the location of the former NY Mets ballpark, Shea Stadium.

We were guests of our partners, NBC Sports, so we sat in seats right behind the visitors dugout.  The photos below were taken from row 1, which was situated directly above the dugout that the St. Louis Cardinals were in.

I went to a Mavs/Nuggets game on Monday and sat in our 123 row AA seats – these are pictures from the seats. I was three rows behind Ludacris and probably ten feet from the Nuggets bench. We have these same tickets for other basketball games (like the warriors game on January 28th at $165 each)

Below is a picture sent to us by a client who attended the MMA UFC 91 event this weekend.  Brock Lesnar defeated Randy Couture with a 2nd-round TKO.

The Dallas Morning News captured the action as the first seats were placed into the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium.  The team had a pair of long-time season ticket holders visit the stadium to try out the seats.  Bob & Harriet Hughes have owned Dallas Cowboys season tickets since 1948, which is the reason they were given the privilege of being the first to sit in the new stadium.  The stadium will open for the 2009 NFL season.  Click here to watch the videofrom the DMN website.

The new Dallas Cowboys stadium will be located in Arlington, Texas.  It will have a capacity of 80,000 fans for Cowboys regular-season games, but can be expanded to seat approximately 100,000 people for special events like the Super Bowl.  There is no official name for the stadium yet, although there have been plenty of corporations who have expressed interest in obtaining the naming rights to the stadium.

What an excellent weekend of college football! Alabama upset Clemson, East Carolina surprised Virginia Tech with a blocked punt win, and the Longhorns beat FAU. Despite not being able to carry my super awesome Canon 5D camera into DKR, I nabbed some interesting shots with my girlfriend’s camera phone from the University of Texas vs. Florida Atlantic University game. This is the last season the New York Yankees are going to be playing at “The House that Ruth Built”, next season the team moves into New Yankees Stadium.  Many fans of baseball are making the trip to see this historic stadium, which was built in 1923, before its gone forever.  I even have relatives from Brookline, Massachusetts who are die-hard Boston Red Sox fans who are coming for one last visit in July.  They love the sport of baseball and want to see this landmark before they close the doors.  Hopefully the Yankees will start playing better baseball so there will be a few more baseball playoff games there to remember.

Buy New York Yankees tickets to a 2008 season game, and see Yankee Stadium before it’s gone.

This past Saturday I was fortunate enough to see Radiohead at the Cynthia-Mitchell Woodland’s Pavilion.  I am not a big fan of massive concerts but this show was truly impressive.  The weather was beautiful, despite a brief shower prior to the show.  The Liars opened for Radiohead and while I wasn’t blown away I think they would be good in a smaller venue.

Radiohead took the stage about 8:45pm and proceeded to absolutely kill it for the next two hours.  Their visuals were stunning and unlike anything I have seen before.  They had long clear tubes hanging down all over the stage in orderly rows with lights running down the length of them.  It was a very creative 3D look to the lighting.  Their video projections were very cinematic and perfectly lit and composed, but you never saw a camera on stage.

On a side note, we paid for $18 parking and thought it was a waste until we walked out of the garage at the very entrance to the pavilion.  Buying parking tickets can be a huge time saver.
