The Week in TicketCity Search – June 25th

It has been a while, but a non-pop concert performer as topped the list. Rockers Tool played the Cedar Park Center earlier this week, enough so that even after they left town, the volume was enough to keep them at the top of the list. By early July they’ll be up in Canada, so my guess is we may not be seeing them again on the list next week. The esteemed Mr. Bieber’s time at the top was short lived, though he will have a another run at it next week, and the College World Series continues out in Omaha. You can still make it for the championship games.

Lady Gaga’s stumble was short lived, both here and in reality, while Cirque continues to hold steady in the middle of the countdown. Like the CWS, the World Cup is still going on and there’s yet more time to catch the greatest, and possibly noisiest, spectacle soccer has to offer. The US team has made it to the second stage where it looks to face Ghana next. Germany and England will also be locking up in a hotly anticipated game.

Rounding the out the list we have Aventura popping back in. They’ve got some shows coming up all across Texas, so that’s not surprising. Phish holds steady at 8 while MLB’s Tampa Bay Rays enter the countdown and The Eagles finish things off. Like Aventura, the Eagles will are also in Texas for shows in Houston and Dallas.

The Week in TicketCity Search – June 18th

Well, it would seem Bieber-mania has hit Central Texas as not only did the esteemed Mr. Bieber top the countdown this week, he did with with a decisiveness rarely seen. No stranger to the top 3 of late, Mr. Bieber swept away the competition with 3x the total of this week’s #2, The College World Series. The CWS is set to kick off in Omaha this weekend, so that’s a pretty impressive feat. Coming in at #3 is a championship event with word “world” in it that really means it, the World Cup. Rounding out the championship trifecta are the NBA Finals, which went seven games and thus wont be figuring in next weeks countdown.

Tool rounds out the top 5, bouncing back from #10 in the process and leading us to Cirque Du Soleil. Since the term is particularly broad, and there are “a lot” of Cirque shows, I’m going to have to guess the Alegria touring production up in Houston is the root of this sudden interest. Not sure what this particular show is about, but I’m going out on a limb and guess it involves a large number of French Canadian people moving around in brightly colored clothing. For the more traditional theatre-going crowd, Wicked remains on the countdown as well.

Rounding things out we have a diva block at the end with Cher and Lady Gaga. Gaga fell again from the top 5 and I’m at a loss to explain the sudden interest in Cher’s Vegas show. There seems to be no news about it ending, or anything like that.

The Week in TicketCity Search – April 9th

The esteemed Mr. Bieber is a monster this week, topping the chart by a wide margin. His summer tour is shaping up to be a blockbuster. Lady Gaga isn’t slowing down either, though at the moment she is across The Pond playing dates in Berlin, Paris, and London before returning stateside in July. Making a strong return to the countdown at #3 is Phish, who have their own summer tour mapped out.

Sir Elton John climbs to #4 this week, perhaps on the strength of his local show at the Erwin Center tomorrow, April 10th. Still time to grab tickets to this event. His tour rolls on through the rest of the month before starting back up again in July.

The Masters rounds out the top 5, as Tiger’s return remains at the top of the news cycle. Following golf’s most prestigious event is Taylor Swift, who climbs a bit after her fall to #10 last week. George Strait and Drake make an interesting combo following her, and the WWE is always at home in the 8-10 range it seems.

Finally, fans are shopping early for the chance to see college baseball’s finest go through the twists and turns of the College World Series double elimination tournament. The CWS isn’t until late June, but it’s never too early to plan your trip to Rosenblatt Stadium to watch the action.
