No change in the top 2 this week, as CWS fever has struck pretty hard this week. Lots of folks hungry to check out the CWS in its brand-new venue in Omaha, TD Ameritrade Park. Game 1 kicks off this very weekend, leading to a week and a half of top notch college baseball action. The esteemed Mr. Bieber hangs in at #2 this week, and, if the smoke rising from Vancouver is any indication, the Stanley Cup has been decided, giving the Gold Cup room to move into the #3 spot this week.

The rest of the list is all concerts, with rockers Widespread Panic in the lead this week at #4. They played a 2 night stand for ACL Live at the Moody Theatre, and Austinites were eager to see the shows. As they’ve since moved on, I don’t think they’ll be hanging on to the #4 spot next week. Rush is apparently in no hurry to move from the #5 spot and Taylor Swift jumps up one spot this week.

Katy Perry returns once more, with Paul McCartney returning after a slightly longer absence. He’s playing two big shows at Yankee Stadium in mid-July, the first of a group of shows over the summer at major ballparks across the country. U2 returns as the long delayed North American legs of the 360° tour are once again underway. Wrapping things up is Blink-182, passing by the countdown once again as they are scheduled to play dates in late summer that “may” be in support of a new album, assuming that album is finished in time.

6 7 WWE
7 - Kylie Minogue
8 4 Selena Gomez
9 5 Jason Aldean
10 - Katy Perry

Merely a formality, the lineup arrived this week, and that put the ACL Festival at the top of the list. Headliners include Arcade Fire, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, and Kanye West. A suitably eclectic mix for a festival known for that very attribute. Even the esteemed Mr. Bieber can’t win on an ACL lineup week, so no shame in holding onto the #2 spot for him. Adele lost the #1 spot for ACL, and tumbled a bit further to the third spot this week. She’s followed by Taylor Swift, who remains pretty solid at #4.

New to the list this week is the Longhorn Baseball team, who, this weekend, will be playing a couple hot games against rival Texas A&M over at Disch-Falk Field. Act fast to get into today’s game, or act in a slightly more leisurely fashion to get tickets to Saturday’s game.

The WWE climbs a spot this week, making room for Australia’s pop queen Kylie Minogue to return to the countdown. Kylie leads off the concert performers that flesh out the rest of the list this week. Selena Gomez falls from #4 to #8 this week, followed by Jason Aldean, who fell right along with Miss Gomez, ending up in the #9 spot. Finally, Katy Perry, whose pop experience points are somewhere between Selena and Kylie, returns to the countdown at #10.

3 3 Kentucky Derby
4 4 Kentucky Oaks
5 2 Adele
6 6 Miami Heat
7 - Maná
8 - Davis Cup
9 9 WWE
10 - Katy Perry

Less new stuff this week as all the top 5 hangs around, and most stay right where they were last week. The only change is Taylor Swift and Adele, who swap places. Taylor Swift’s show in Austin isn’t until October, but tickets went on sale recently, no doubt having a bit of an effect on her rankings this week. She did not manage to dethrone the esteemed Mr. Bieber. The Derby and Oaks are about a week away now, and interest remains strong. Still time to get your seats for “The most exciting 2 minutes in sports.”

The Heat’s entry into Round Two of the NBA playoffs pits them against the 2008 champs and 2010 runners-up Boston Celtics in what promises to be a very big series. They hang steady at #6 this week, but may surge as the games get underway next week.

Maná enters the countdown at #7. The Grammy Award winning Latin rock group has been around since 1978, releasing 8 studio albums so far. The most recent of them is Drama y Luz, their first album in over 5 years. With fans having such a long wait between albums, no wonder Maná is moving up the chart.

Rounding things out we have the Davis Cup returning, along with Katy Perry, both of whom will likely be around quite a bit as summer nears.

9 - Jason Aldean
10 - Kenny Chesney

Not much change this week. The top five played musical chairs, somewhat apropos as they are all concert performers. The esteemed Mr. Bieber topped the list, trading with Taylor Swift, who dropped to #3, while Adele and Lady Gaga also traded spaces. Perhaps Beeb’s recent film release has helped spur interest. Sadly we do not sell movie tickets, but it appears we have some seats for his 2 night stand at the O2 Arena in London.

The WWE gains a spot, and the Derby gains 3, up to #7. Still have a couple months to go before the Derby, so ample time to get your tickets for the event, and, most importantly, pick out a hat.

Katy Perry is back after a short absence. Her tour doesn’t really gear up for a few months, so interest is pretty high to be showing up now. She’s joined by a couple country stars to round of the list, both of whom have been seen on the countdown before. Jason Aldean is on tour and will be dropping by the Houston Rodeo later this month. Kenny Chesney will be on tour soon and will play dates through summer 2011.

Ah, February, when young netizens hearts turn to thoughts of spring concert tours and leave behind the chill of winter sports. Well, at least until March Madness…

The all concert top 10 this week sees Taylor Swift make it to the top again, sending Lil Wayne down to #3 to make room for… Oh, the esteemed Mr. Beiber has returned. Fresh off his Grammy ‘controversy’ the Beeb shows up in second place again. Actually, he should be happy with the outcome, the Best New Artist Grammy is known to come with a bit of baggage. Taylor Swift also lost that one… to Amy Winehouse. Just consider that bullet dodged and move on.

Lady Gaga never even got the nomination and she’s doing pretty good at #4. Kings of Leon return to the countdown at #5 after a long absence. Much the same can be said of Bon Jovi, who hung in for a while there last year but eventually faded.

A couple new arrivals at 8 and 9. The first is Glee Live! In Concert! I suspect this has something to do with the cast of the television show Glee! being… live… in concert… There may be additional exclamation points as well, I can’t be sure.

The second new entry is Adele, a soul and blues singer from the UK. She did win the Best New Artist Grammy, and only made it to #9 on the countdown. Her first album came out in 2008, which she wrote when she was 19. I have to admit the first thing that makes me think of is a line from Adventures in Babysitting.
