Davis Cup stays on top again this week. Will be interesting to see what kind of staying power this event has, since it won’t happen until July. Someone who has demonstrated some staying power so far, the esteemed Mr. Bieber, returns to the #2 spot recently vacated by the Frozen Four. He’s followed by Adele, who has climbed the chart in the recent weeks, and Lil Wayne, who has been a fixture in the top 5 recently. Rounding things out are the Kings of Leon, who have been around but lacking the consistency of their fellow top 5 entries.

Taylor Swift is unable to make it back to the top 5, ending up at #6 this week. She’s followed by new entry Mumford & Sons. The English folk rock band recently achieved success in the states with Grammy-nominated hit “Little Lion Man” and is touring in spring and summer in the US this year. Their current album, Sigh No More, is certified Platinum and they are currently writing songs for a follow-up.

Country stars Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw both return to the bottom 5 this week, providing a very country / folk feel to things. The Derby finishes last, which is a respectable showing here, but not something those 3-year-old thoroughbred horses should be striving for.

Kings Of Leon, NCAA Team Up For Final Four Concert

As if you didn’t have enough of a reason to go to Houston during Final Four wekend (April 1-4), Tenesseeans Kings of Leon are going to ‘volunteer’ a free show at the Discovery Green from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. Their show is a part of a deal where “Kings of Leon’s song, “The Immortals,” will be at the center of a multi-platform marketing campaign to promote the 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.”

So, would you go to the concert before the Final Four, or would you save up your exceitment for the games? For a sample of what you’re in for if you do go, here’s a clip of KOL playing “The Immortals” live in Italy.

Ah, February, when young netizens hearts turn to thoughts of spring concert tours and leave behind the chill of winter sports. Well, at least until March Madness…

The all concert top 10 this week sees Taylor Swift make it to the top again, sending Lil Wayne down to #3 to make room for… Oh, the esteemed Mr. Beiber has returned. Fresh off his Grammy ‘controversy’ the Beeb shows up in second place again. Actually, he should be happy with the outcome, the Best New Artist Grammy is known to come with a bit of baggage. Taylor Swift also lost that one… to Amy Winehouse. Just consider that bullet dodged and move on.

Lady Gaga never even got the nomination and she’s doing pretty good at #4. Kings of Leon return to the countdown at #5 after a long absence. Much the same can be said of Bon Jovi, who hung in for a while there last year but eventually faded.

A couple new arrivals at 8 and 9. The first is Glee Live! In Concert! I suspect this has something to do with the cast of the television show Glee! being… live… in concert… There may be additional exclamation points as well, I can’t be sure.

The second new entry is Adele, a soul and blues singer from the UK. She did win the Best New Artist Grammy, and only made it to #9 on the countdown. Her first album came out in 2008, which she wrote when she was 19. I have to admit the first thing that makes me think of is a line from Adventures in Babysitting.

The Week in TicketCity Search – September 24th

No surprise ACL remains at the #1 spot, though it seems Phish fans have figured out that it’s better to just search for the festival instead of the band. Rush fans have stepped up as the band is moving through Texas this weekend. After an absence that is due, I’m sure, to the fact that the Monster Ball Tour is now overseas, Lady Gaga returns to the countdown as a date in our own little town is announced.

We won’t forget that it’s still football season, though, as the Longhorns gain a rank and the Razorbacks drop in to the list at #7. Between them we have some fresher concert performers. Usher, who has been on the list in the past, is touring in support of his recent album Versus.

According to my watch, it doesn’t seem to be 1995, but the Smashing Pumpkins are on the countdown at #6. Wikipedia suggests these are not your father’s Pumpkins. No matter, Billy Corgan is still there and he’s part of one of my favorite gags of the Simpsons‘ “Homerpalooza” episode.

Drake climbs a couple spots, over the esteemed Mr. Bieber, whose fortunes have taken a hit again this week. That leaves us with Kings of Leon, who sneak into the #10 slot after a long absence.

The Week in TicketCity Search – October 9th

It is with a slight sense of surprise I report ACL managed to hang onto the top spot this week. Propelled primarily by a strong showing over last weekend, ACL’s win wasn’t quite the all out domination of the previous week. The Longhorns were a much closer second this time. Will be interesting to see how long post-ACL fever lasts. The rain certainly didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of last minute ticket searchers. Next year’s festival is scheduled for October 8-10, and yes, you can line up your spot today on our ACL Tickets page.

Miley and Taylor once again find themselves in close proximity, after a steady U2 and a resurgent Aventura. The WWE makes a return appearance after a few months of absence. The Cowboys haven’t been absent quite so long, but weren’t around for the past few weeks. Which brings to the Twins, who appear in part due to their little pre-playoff playoff against the Tigers. The Twins and the Tigers finished their seasons tied and had an amazing 12 inning, 6-5 squeaker for the right to get steamrolled by the Yankees.

If you’re intersted in following the Twins, or a team with a shot at making it to the World Series, check out our MLB Playoffs Tickets page.
