The Bowl of all Bowls remains at the top this week, and the sky remains blue, grass green. The Pro Bowl moved up the list, but couldn’t quite make it to the number 2 spot. That got taken by chart newcomer Lil Wayne, who has very recently announced the “I Am Music II” Tour. So recently, in fact, that there’s no inventory available for any of the shows as of yet. That will likely change pretty quickly. It appears he has a very busy schedule for the spring tour.

Rush fans return the prog-rock trio to the number four spot this week. They’re followed by Janet Jackson, who slips a bit from 3 to 5.

Starting off the bottom five is the Coachella Music Festival. This year’s festival is headlined by Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, and the ever humble, man of the people Kanye West. The festival happens April 15-17, in the middle of the Empire Polo Fields, which are over this hedge.

Rounding out the list Jason Aldean, Monster Jam, and Dayglow (an eclectic mix if I ever saw one) shuffle around a bit. Gaga shows up again at #10 as her new round of stateside dates draws ever closer.

Lots of shuffling, but only one new face this week. It appears the momentum of last weeks bowl contests spilled over into this week, as the BCS and the Cotton Bowl both hung on for another round. This will probably be the last we see of them for another 11 months or so, though. The Super Bowl has reached the top, as we are getting closer to finding out who will be playing.

Girl Talk shoots into the countdown at #3, impressive debut for a newcomer to the countdown. Wow, with a name like Girl Talk, I bet there’s some nice looking ladies- wait, what? Oh… Well, okay… This is an even bigger fake out than having 2 dudes in the group Lady Antebellum. So, Girl Talk is the stage name of Gregg Michael Gillis, a mashup / electronica musician. “Gregg” will be at the Austin Music Hall tonight before continuing a nationwide tour.

As predicted, Gaga’s return stateside is moving up the charts. The rest of the countdown is pretty much a bit of a shift from last week, with some ups and downs for the returning concert acts. Linkin Park climbs while Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift both tumble a bit. Monster Jam rounds out the countdown, looking like the longevity it achieved last spring will be repeated this year.

With only two survivors from last week, the countdown is starting the annual change for bowl season. Four bowls made it this week, with more to come. This weekend is the big announcement, where in most all bowl participants will be decided. One our biggest weekends of the year. Cotton Bowl is leading at the moment. With Texas A&M accepting the invite, it’s not surprising. The Big 12 championship, which will no doubt effect who ends up in the National Championship, arrives at #2, followed by the SEC Championship which fell from #1.

We get a short break from college football to allow George Strait to find a comfy spot after losing the #1 slot. He’s followed by Taylor Swift. Swift recently announced the Speak Now Tour in support of her latest album. This will probably be a hot ticket that keeps her on the countdown most of the summer.

Back to the bowls with Sugar and the big National Championship at 6 and 7. The BCS is out in sunny Phoenix this year, rotating through with the Fiesta Bowl.

More concerts as Lady Gaga returns to the countdown after a brief absence, though only making #8. Gaga is still touring overseas and won’t be stateside again until February. Kid Rock debuts on the countdown at #10. This is his first appearance and likley due to his recent touring announcement. He’ll be out on tour early in 2011 in support of his recently released Born Free album.

Not surprisingly, the top of the countdown is dominated by the World Series. The big term is #1, while the Texas Rangers come in a close second. While their performance in the first couple games has been a little less than stellar, they’ve got home field advantage this weekend. Would be slightly anti-climatic to make to the Fall Classic for the first time and get swept, after all. I’m sure they’re just building up some dramatic tension. Win the next 3, lose Game 6, setting up the big showdown in Game 7, when all the Giants fans will end up cheering for the Rangers in a final dramatic play. All very Rocky IV.

In a more sports themed countdown than usual, Ghostland Observatory shoots into the #3 spot from nowhere. The local boys made good performed last night at the Cedar Park Center, so I bet that had something to do with it. Not to worry, if you missed them, they’ll be in the general vicinity (Houston then Dallas), this weekend.

The Breeders Cup remains popular, holding steady at #4, while Phish again rise up the charts from #9 to #5. That would only be really funny if Dolly Parton managed the same feat. Baylor and Auburn pop into the list below Phish. Baylor is playing Texas this weekend, a factor in both teams ending up on the countdown.

Finally, in something of an inversion of the countdown from month past, both Lady Gaga and the esteemed Mr. Bieber appear at the bottom. I suppose mentioning his absence last weekend was enough to bring him back.

Mr. deadmau5, I presume.

As I write this, it’s less than fifteen minutes before Two Tons of Steel are scheduled to kick off ACL Fest. In the week leading up to this weekend’s musical festivities, ACL became even hotter, blowing the proverbial doors off the top 10 and easily ending up on top. Second place goes to official ACL post show performer deadmau5. For those unfamiliar with even the barest hint of “leetspeak”, the “5″ is an “s” and it’s pronounced “dead mouse”. Not only is this deadmau5′ first appearance on the countdown, it’s the first appearance of anyone prone to wearing a large mouse head on stage.

ACL headliners The Eagles slip into the #3 spot, giving the entire top 3 over to ACL. I’ll just insert the obligatory “Phish is also at ACL” sentence in here, since they managed to remain exactly where they were last week at #6. ACL did put a bit of a dampener on Lady Gaga, but it places her in prime position to recapture the top spot next week.

Random college football team slips in, as the Yellow Jackets enter the countdown for what I believe is their first time to round out the top 5. Numbers 6 and 7 remain unchanged from last week, while all the ACL action has pushed Drake down from 5 to 8. At the very tail end, the esteemed Mr. Bieber clings tenaciously to the countdown, flipping positions with Shakira from last week.
