Bigger shifts this week as all the conference level college basketball tournaments play out. This little appetizer to March Madness “proper” posted two entries, the Big 12 Tournament and the Big East Tournament. The SEC Tournament, in case anyone was wondering, was #11. The selection show for the NCAA Tournament is this Sunday. TicketCity will have some extended hours to accommodate buyers who want to get tickets once the teams are announced.

The esteemed Mr. Beiber remains in the #1 spot, while Gaga climbs up a couple spots at the expense of the departed Adele and Taylor Swift. Swift hung in there, but dropped to #7. While one might think the Houston Rodeo, arriving at #4, is sporting related, the major attraction are the concerts that happen every night. Still some big names to go, ranging from KISS to Alan Jackson.

Arcade Fire debuts on the countdown at #5. The… let’s see… one… two… three… um, there’s more… five… six… eight! The eight member Canadian indie rock band from Montreal recently won the Grammy for Album of the Year for The Suburbs. They have a pretty crowded touring schedule starting up in April.

Rounding out the list the Wresltmania-bound WWE falls a few spots to #8, and Lil Wayne takes a big stumble from #2 to #9. Bon Jovi sneaks back into the countdown at the end.

9 - Jason Aldean
10 - Kenny Chesney

Not much change this week. The top five played musical chairs, somewhat apropos as they are all concert performers. The esteemed Mr. Bieber topped the list, trading with Taylor Swift, who dropped to #3, while Adele and Lady Gaga also traded spaces. Perhaps Beeb’s recent film release has helped spur interest. Sadly we do not sell movie tickets, but it appears we have some seats for his 2 night stand at the O2 Arena in London.

The WWE gains a spot, and the Derby gains 3, up to #7. Still have a couple months to go before the Derby, so ample time to get your tickets for the event, and, most importantly, pick out a hat.

Katy Perry is back after a short absence. Her tour doesn’t really gear up for a few months, so interest is pretty high to be showing up now. She’s joined by a couple country stars to round of the list, both of whom have been seen on the countdown before. Jason Aldean is on tour and will be dropping by the Houston Rodeo later this month. Kenny Chesney will be on tour soon and will play dates through summer 2011.

10 - Kentucky Derby

While the top 5 remains rather musical this week, we see some sports and some “entertaining” sports sneaking back into the bottom 5. First off, Taylor Swift remains at #1. At the moment she is touring Europe, but will be returning to US soil at the end of May. The Speak Now Tour will hit some of the biggest arenas in the country, including Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Lil Wayne and the esteemed Mr. Beiber trade spots this week, and Lady Gaga hangs steady at #4. Adele works on a big leap from #9 to #5.

The Blue Man Group, or one of them, at least, is performing multiple shows at Dell Hall this weekend, and it appears people are looking for some last minute tickets. Much like mall Santas, these guys can appear at different venues all over the country at the same time.

Oh, it’s almost Wrestlemania season, so WWE should be around for a month or so. It’s a good pair for Monster Jam which returns to the #8 spot. Skip to #10 and we find one of the oldest continually held sporting events in the United States: The Kentucky Derby. The Derby is May 7th this year and is not a good pair for the WWE.

Ah, February, when young netizens hearts turn to thoughts of spring concert tours and leave behind the chill of winter sports. Well, at least until March Madness…

The all concert top 10 this week sees Taylor Swift make it to the top again, sending Lil Wayne down to #3 to make room for… Oh, the esteemed Mr. Beiber has returned. Fresh off his Grammy ‘controversy’ the Beeb shows up in second place again. Actually, he should be happy with the outcome, the Best New Artist Grammy is known to come with a bit of baggage. Taylor Swift also lost that one… to Amy Winehouse. Just consider that bullet dodged and move on.

Lady Gaga never even got the nomination and she’s doing pretty good at #4. Kings of Leon return to the countdown at #5 after a long absence. Much the same can be said of Bon Jovi, who hung in for a while there last year but eventually faded.

A couple new arrivals at 8 and 9. The first is Glee Live! In Concert! I suspect this has something to do with the cast of the television show Glee! being… live… in concert… There may be additional exclamation points as well, I can’t be sure.

The second new entry is Adele, a soul and blues singer from the UK. She did win the Best New Artist Grammy, and only made it to #9 on the countdown. Her first album came out in 2008, which she wrote when she was 19. I have to admit the first thing that makes me think of is a line from Adventures in Babysitting.

9 - WWE
10 - Kid Rock

It’s that time of year again, when the only sports on the countdown are the ones where the qualifier “entertainment” is firmly attached. That means concert tours once again dominate the top 5, with Lil Wayne climbing the charts the past few weeks and finally making it to #1. Taylor Swift also climbs but only makes it to the #2 slot.

That brings us to #3, featuring home town favorite Willie Nelson who will be featured on another home town favorite, Austin City Limits Live, this Sunday and Monday. I’m a little surprised that combo didn’t spike to #1.

After Willie is a rich, nougaty center of pop goodness, with Lady Gaga and Katy Perry rounding out the #5, one which also included hip-hop, country pop, and outlaw country. Quite the eclectic mix this week.

It’s rodeo season in Texas, and the San Antonio Rodeo kicks off this weekend with a full slate of concert performers for the next couple of weeks, including Train, Miranda Lambert, and Martina McBride. The Houston and Austin Rodeos will start up in March, both with more big name concert performers. And, presumably, various varieties of cows.
