Ah, now we’re getting some variety in the countdown. With ACL done and college football season heading into the “slow” month, we see some new (relatively) faces appearing. At the top, though, is the very familiar countenance of the esteemed Mr. Bieber, who retakes his crown after spending many a month in exile.

He’s followed by Jason Aldean, whose tour is moving through our backyard, so I’m pretty sure that’s how he pulled an “out-of-nowhere” landing a #2. Miss St. drops to #3 and 1D holds steady at #4.

Very new and in at #5 is the United States Grand Prix. New to Austin, the inaugural racing weekend gets underway November 16th, culminating in the USGP on the 18th. The brand new Circuit of the America hosts the event, and we will have more on the track soon.

Also new, and starting off the second half of the countdown, is Maroon 5, who just released the North American dates for their Overexposed Tour. Along for the ride are Neon Trees and Owl City. The tour begins next February and currently runs for around 32 dates, though that could be extended.

The World Series enters at #7, and Phish return at #8. George Strait suffers a big drop, 8 spots down to the very bottom this week.

While I’m pretty sure it’s the first time they’ve been on the countdown, it’s certainly not the first time the Rolling Stones have been on the road. Debuting at #9 this week, they’ve been at it for 50 years. Called the 50 and Counting Tour, these dates are celebrating that golden anniversary.

Looks like this will be the summer of One Direction. Fans of the esteemed Mr. Bieber have not mounted a serious challenge to the Brit boy band’s dominance since dates for the Believe Tour arrived. The addition of newly minted pop star Carly Rae Jepsen as the Beeb’s opening act hasn’t made a dent in One Direction’s numbers. Wikipedia suggests Carly Rae wasn’t plucked from complete obscurity, as she placed 3rd on season 5 of Canadian Idol before incubating a few years prior to the success of “Call Me Maybe.”

Other fun facts Wikipedia will tell you is that Marie-Antoinette probably never said this.

Coldplay moves up a notch, Jason Aldean gains three of them, and the Rangers just hang out, finishing the top five in the same spot as last week. While all of the top five were holdovers from last week, the bottom five is completely fresh. Well, Phish may have an odd smell about them…

Two things about summer in Texas, it’s hot and it’s when Cowboys’ fans brim with optimism. The Boys open up the bottom five this week, as the NFL season gets steadily closer. The Aerosmith/Cheap Trick Global Warming tour lands at #7 this week.

Fans of international soccer are looking to see Real Madrid as they play a variety of dates around the US in August. They’ll be in LA, Vegas, and New York as well as other big stadiums around the US, playing the LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and other big teams.

9 - BCS Bowl
10 - OSU Football

Sliding into November we see football keeps a pretty strong grip on the countdown. The Longhorns return to the top spot that was vacated by Taylor Swift, who took a big tumble down to #8. The Longhorns are followed by the Breeders Cup which showed some strong interest all week. The festivities are today and tomorrow at Churchill Downs.

Phish is back after a longer than usual absence. They are playing a series of shows at Madison Square Garden leading up to New Years Eve.

Mississippi State, who’s remained on the countdown steadily for weeks now, climbs back to the #5 spot, and the Dallas Cowboys pick up a spot to kick off the bottom five. A fresher face, Arkansas, arrives to lend some variety to the proceedings, while the BCS Bowl once again makes an early appearance. We are about 1 month out from the big bowl announcement weekend, though.

Our partners at OSU find their way into the last spot this week, bringing the countdown to a close.

The winner this week is a bit of an aggregate, since there were a lot of terms that all suggested people were looking for the NCAA Baseball playoffs, which, of course, culminate in the College World Series. Just a bit tidier this way. If you’re looking for tickets to the big super regional games at Disch-Falk Field this weekend, you can find those here: NCAA Baseball Regionals Tickets.

The esteemed Mr. Bieber couldn’t stand up to the aggregate power of NCAA baseball this week, and slips to the second spot. One of this month’s many other championship contests checks in at #3 as Bruins fans, who haven’t seen a Stanley Cup contest since 1990, eagerly snap up tickets. That is quite a long wait, so no surprise the Bruins faithful are packing TD Garden. With the series tied 2-2, they’ll have one more home game June 13th.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup follows closely behind the Stanley Cup, leading us to the group of concert performers that round out the list. Rush returns as they have a show on the 12th at the Erwin Center. Maná’s reserves run low and drop to #6 this week. They really need to tour with these guys.

A few entries pop back into the countdown after Taylor Swift, who falls again this week. Weezer, Phish, and Selena Gomez all have been here before, some quite recently, but have lacked the staying power to hang onto the top 10 week to week.

Catching up this week after a little extended vacation. A week after the ACL lineup announcement and it was nowhere to be found, only resurfacing, a distant last, this week. With room at the top, the esteemed Mr. Bieber moved back in and put down roots, taking it for two weeks in a row. He, Adele, and Taylor Swift eventually broke up this week, as the College World Series enters the top 10 at #2 and Maná returns, as if by magic, to the #3 spot.

The women’s College World Series is already underway, and will last until June 7th or 8th. The ladies are playing at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. The men’s College World Series stars up June 18th at TD Ameritrade Park. Previous venue, Rosenblatt Stadium, hosted the event since 1950. The NCAA agreed to keep the CWS in Omaha until 2035 in exchange for the new stadium, so fans won’t have to change their travel plans any time soon.

Soccer appears on the countdown for the past two weeks as the US hosts the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The CONCACAF Gold Cup crowns the regional soccer champion of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Play for the cup crosses the country, playing in big venues all across the US for most of June. There is a big semi final match in Houston at Reliant Stadium and the final is being held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Rounding things out the Glee! Live tour has hung in there for a couple weeks now, followed by a returning Katy Perry. Finally Phish fans may be wondering if they’re going to be at ACL this year.
