9 - Breeders Cup
10 - BCS Bowl

The top 2 earned their spots by a wide margin this week. After a comeback win the Rangers tie things up in the World Series, earning a game 5 in Arlington. They managed to push the Longhorns out of the top spot. The shuffle at the top didn’t effect the rest of the top 5, as the esteemed Mr. Bieber and Taylor Swift stayed put at #4 and #5.

The Cowboys kick off the bottom five, followed closely by the WWE. Monday Night RAW will be broadcast from the Erwin Center next… Monday, yes, it’s definitely Monday.

Mississippi State managed to hang onto the countdown that lost a lot of other teams this week. The Breeders Cup slides into the #9 spot. The 2 day event happens at Churchill Downs this year, so you can get a little taste of horse racing action in Louisville without feeling self conscious about your choice of headgear.

Finally, the National Championship Game peaks in at #10. Certainly no stranger to the countdown, but usually a little further along in the calendar. Interesting to see it pop up in October.

7 - Kylie Minogue
8 4 Selena Gomez
9 5 Jason Aldean
10 - Katy Perry

Merely a formality, the lineup arrived this week, and that put the ACL Festival at the top of the list. Headliners include Arcade Fire, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, and Kanye West. A suitably eclectic mix for a festival known for that very attribute. Even the esteemed Mr. Bieber can’t win on an ACL lineup week, so no shame in holding onto the #2 spot for him. Adele lost the #1 spot for ACL, and tumbled a bit further to the third spot this week. She’s followed by Taylor Swift, who remains pretty solid at #4.

New to the list this week is the Longhorn Baseball team, who, this weekend, will be playing a couple hot games against rival Texas A&M over at Disch-Falk Field. Act fast to get into today’s game, or act in a slightly more leisurely fashion to get tickets to Saturday’s game.

The WWE climbs a spot this week, making room for Australia’s pop queen Kylie Minogue to return to the countdown. Kylie leads off the concert performers that flesh out the rest of the list this week. Selena Gomez falls from #4 to #8 this week, followed by Jason Aldean, who fell right along with Miss Gomez, ending up in the #9 spot. Finally, Katy Perry, whose pop experience points are somewhere between Selena and Kylie, returns to the countdown at #10.

9 - Bruno Mars
10 - Bon Jovi

Derby weekend is past, with a big upset, making “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” even more exciting than usual, assuming that’s possible. That leaves the top spots open for a resurgence in concerts. Taking the crown is Adele, who flips up from the number five spot last week, leapfrogging the esteemed Mr. Beiber, who lands at number two. Taylor Swift moves up one, while Selena Gomez returns strong after a few weeks absence.

Rounding out the top 5 is Jason Aldean, who has been drifting in and out of the countdown for a few months now. Britney kicks off the lower half of the countdown as interest in this summer’s Femme Fatale Tour remains strong. The WWE has a strong week, climbing to #7, while Maná is a bit depleted, ending the week down at #8. Hopefully they can be replenished next week.

Returning after a much longer absence is Bruno Mars. He’s on tour now, and currently passing through Texas. Bruno’s debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans earned him a Grammy for “Just the Way You Are.” Bon Jovi pops in at number ten to remind us they’re still on tour as well.

10 9 WWE

Small surprise in the top 5 this week. Not surprising is the Derby topping the list, with the Oaks right behind. The Oaks is today, but still time to get into the big race tomorrow. The Derby promises to be exciting as ever this year, and TicketCity personnel are down in Louisville to make sure you get your tickets.

The small surprise this week is Maná managing bypass some pretty famous performers to end up the top concert act on the list. Pretty magical, if you ask me.

The famous in question follow Maná, starting with Taylor Swift and ending up with the esteemed Mr. Bieber, who takes a pretty big tumble from the top of the list. ACL Fest follows as buzz builds for the announcement of the 2011 line-up. The full list goes out May 17th, so the fest will probably hang around the list for a few more weeks before the summer lul sets in.

Britney and Arcade Fire both return to the list after absences of various lengths. Recently ever-present in the bottom 5, the WWE again rounds out the list at #10 this week.

8 - Davis Cup
9 9 WWE
10 - Katy Perry

Less new stuff this week as all the top 5 hangs around, and most stay right where they were last week. The only change is Taylor Swift and Adele, who swap places. Taylor Swift’s show in Austin isn’t until October, but tickets went on sale recently, no doubt having a bit of an effect on her rankings this week. She did not manage to dethrone the esteemed Mr. Bieber. The Derby and Oaks are about a week away now, and interest remains strong. Still time to get your seats for “The most exciting 2 minutes in sports.”

The Heat’s entry into Round Two of the NBA playoffs pits them against the 2008 champs and 2010 runners-up Boston Celtics in what promises to be a very big series. They hang steady at #6 this week, but may surge as the games get underway next week.

Maná enters the countdown at #7. The Grammy Award winning Latin rock group has been around since 1978, releasing 8 studio albums so far. The most recent of them is Drama y Luz, their first album in over 5 years. With fans having such a long wait between albums, no wonder Maná is moving up the chart.

Rounding things out we have the Davis Cup returning, along with Katy Perry, both of whom will likely be around quite a bit as summer nears.
