2015 NFC Divisional Playoff Predictions

The first weekend of the 2015 NFL Playoffs are behind us and the matchups are set for the NFC Divisional Playoff Round. The Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions seasons ended this weekend, but the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers move on to play the NFC’s top seeds.

Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks – Median Ticket Price $298

This matchup is between teams that on paper seem to be on different levels. The Panthers stumbled into the playoffs with a 7-8-1 record and with their Wild Card victory over the Cardinals, are at .500 for the first time since Week 7 of the NFL Season. The Seahawks on the other hand have been dominant. Since starting the season 3-3, Seattle has won 9 of 10 games. The vaunted Seahawks defense has been playing at their highest level, holding teams to under 10 points in 6 of those final 10 games, and have only allowed opposing teams to score 24 points or more 4 times this season. Those 4 games happen to be the 4 times that the Seahawks have lost in 2014-15, and chances are, if the legion of boom can hold Cam Newton and company under 24 points, it will be the end of the road for the Carolina Panthers this season. The Seahawks and Panthers met once before this season, a 13-9 victory by Seattle. The Seahawks needed a late 4th quarter touchdown drive to pull out the victory, in one of the best defensive battles of the season. But the Seahawks are simply unbeatable at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
Ian’s Prediction – Seattle’s defense stifles Cam Newton and company. Seattle wins 21-6.

Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers – Median Ticket Price $228

Controversial pass interference call aside, the Dallas Cowboys 24-20 win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Wild Card Round was one of the most exciting games that we have seen in the post season in the last few years. The matchup between the Cowboys and the Packers looks to be every bit as exciting. The game will feature two of the most prolific passers in the NFL today. Tony Romo and Aaron Rodgers finished the regular season with the 2 highest quarterback ratings in the NFL, and combined for 72 touchdown passes. The Packers and Cowboys both have quality defenses, but it will most likely be an offensive showdown, with points scored early and often. Aaron Rodgers has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL since moving into the starting roll. He has been especially successful in Lambaeu. But in the playoffs, the Rodgers led Packers are only 2-2 at home. The gametime temperature is forcasted to be well below freezing which will be something the Cowboys haven’t experienced in years. But their ability to run the ball, especially late in games proves to be the difference maker. Ian’s Prediction – Cowboys control the time of possession in the 2nd half. Cowboys win 42-35.
