Why We Love Concerts: The Crowd

There is nothing like the energy and atmosphere of live music. It is the most life-affirming experience, to see your favorite performer onstage, in the flesh…

Dave Grohl in May 11, 2020 story for The Atlantic

Every person who has seen their favorite artist live knows that special moment when the first few guitar riffs of their favorite song start playing. That is the moment at the concert when the hair stands up on the back of your neck. That is when the crowd comes to their feet, or throws their hands in the air. The buzz of the audience turns into a roar as they recognize the chords of the song. That is the moment we all love, when we feel the energy of being a at a live concert.

Concerts, sports & other live events have a special energy. That energy at concerts comes from the crowd. The crowd feeds off the music and the artist/musician/band feed off that energy from the crowd. The best shows are made better by the crowd. The crowd is what can make a concert a truly great experience. We love the crowd!

The lead singer of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, is right when he says “There is nothing like the energy and atmosphere of live music.” and he is also right when he says in-regards to when we’ll have audiences at live music again, “But I do know that we will do it again, because we have to. It’s not a choice.” We cannot wait until that happens.
