Top Boston Celtics Games of 2014

The Boston Celtics are returning their top star to the court this season as point guard Rajon Rondo is back on the hardwood.  The season started impressively with a 121-105 victory over the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden last Wednesday.  A couple more wins like that at home and the Celtics will have an opportunity to get back into the postseason.

For fans looking to see Rondo and company on the court this year, below is a breakdown of the top five most expensive games remaining on the Celtics schedule, based on the average price for tickets remaining available on the secondary market:

April 12, 2015 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers | Average Ticket Price = $261 | Get-In Ticket Price = $71

The most expensive game on the schedule for Boston is against the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is the second to last home game on the Celtics schedule so expect prices to fluctuate considerably over the next six months.  That being said, new Cavaliers acquisition LeBron James is coming to town and wherever he goes, ticket prices soar.  The Cavs may be at a point that they opt to rest their star, which would leave a lot of expensive-ticket buyers pretty unhappy, but if he hits the hardwood, fans will get their money’s worth.

November 14, 2014 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers | Average Ticket Price = $218 | Get-In Ticket Price = $81

The second most expensive game is also against Cleveland, though it will be taking place in less than two weeks.  The average price is just $218, $43 cheaper than the current rate for their April 12th meeting. However, the get-in rate is $81, ten bucks higher than the late season matchup.  This will be the first time LeBron returns to Boston donning a Cavs uniform since his infamous Game 6 playoff exit when he last was a member of Cleveland.  Both teams are remarkably different since that playoff series, but the excitement level will be right up there.

March 29, 2015 vs. Los Angeles Clippers | Average Ticket Price = $214 | Get-In Ticket Price = $36

Clippers head coach and former Celtic head coach Doc Rivers will make a visit in the end of March for what is currently the third most expensive game for Boston Celtics tickets.  Los Angeles boasts one of the premier teams in the league so prices are certainly a factor of more than just Rivers.  Chris Paul and Blake Griffin hope to make the leap from playoff also-ran to championship contender and the Celtics will look to bring home a very impressive win over a Western Conference contender.

February 1, 2015 vs. Miami Heat | Average Ticket Price = $172 | Get-In Ticket Price = $26

LeBron’s former team makes an appearance as the fourth most expensive matchup.  While James won’t make an appearance, much-ballyhooed stars Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade will and the Heat still pose a significant threat in the Eastern Conference this season.

February 25, 2015 vs. New York Knicks | Average Ticket Price = $169 | Get-In Ticket Price = $28

The final game to round out this top five is a late February game with the New York Knicks. The New York Knicks were the last team to defeat the Celtics in the playoffs a few years back and there’s always a big draw for a Boston versus New York team, regardless of sport.  Carmelo Anthony will look to lead the Knicks back to the postseason and raise some havoc in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
