Chicago Blackhawks NHL’s Best

The Chicago Blackhawks have been arguably the most impressive team in the NHL through the first half of the season. Through their first 34 games, Chicago has earned 48 points, putting them on pace to exceed 100 points and potentially be the top seed in the Western Conference.

With Chicago playing so well, the price for Blackhawks tickets on the secondary market has gone up quite a bit for any game at the United Center. Below is a breakdown of the top five most in-demand home games remaining this season for Chicago:

December 29, 2014 vs. Nashville Predators | Average Ticket Price = $390 | Get-in Ticket Price = $135

Chicago and Nashville have played three times already this season with the Blackhawks winning two of the contests and the Predators taking one. Last time they met, Chicago visited Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena and left with a 3-1 victory after taking a two goal lead entering the third period and icing the game with a late Marian Hossa goal (his second of the game.)

This unfortunately will be the last time these two teams play each other, pending a meeting in the Western Conference portion of the postseason. The two teams have developed quite a rivalry on the ice, and that has translated into expensive tickets on the secondary market with the December 29th meeting the most expensive game remaining at the United Center this season.

February 22, 2015 vs. Boston Bruins | Average Ticket Price = $375 | Get-in Ticket Price = $135

Boston has struggled quite a bit this season, enduring several major injuries to their top lines. Boston would actually not qualify for the playoffs if the postseason were to end today. Nonetheless, ever since these two met in the Stanley Cup two years ago, the Bruins have been a major draw in Chicago and, once again, their meeting is one of the priciest games of the year. At $375, Blackhawks vs. Bruins tickets are the second highest price of any game this year.

February 15, 2015 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins | Average Ticket Price = $359 | Get-in Ticket Price = $161

Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are two of the biggest stars in the game and, as such, get a lot of butts into the seats. That’s the case in Chicago, as well, with Blackhawks vs. Pittsburgh Penguins tickets currently at an average price of $359. This game also has the highest get-in price of the season at $161.

February 18, 2015 vs. Detroit Red Wings | Average Ticket Price = $341 | Get-in Ticket Price = $116

The Red Wings were arguably Chicago’s biggest rival over the past decade, and have been their biggest rival in team history. But Detroit departed the Western Conference when realignment took place and now they visit just once a year. With less games to see the Red Wings square off against the Blackhawks, prices were bound to increase and that has been the case as this is the fourth most expensive game at the United Center this year.

January 4, 2015 vs. Dallas Stars | Average Ticket Price = $325 | Get-in Ticket Price = $91

The first game of the New Year will be against Dallas on Sunday, January 4th. This will be the first time all year that the Blackhawks will not be competing for attention from the Bears as Chicago’s NFL team will end their season on December 28th. That may be part of the reason why ticket prices against the Stars as so high, as Dallas is not a huge draw on the road and hasn’t been playing particularly well early this year. However, Stars vs. Blackhawks currently rounds out the top five most expensive games at the United Center this year.
