Racing Season Heats Up in Daytona Beach

While the race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup is officially set to begin this coming weekend, the excitement has already begun with Kevin Harvick’s outta-nowhere win at the Budweiser Shootout this past Saturday at Daytona International Speedway. Harvick was running at the back of the field early in the race and overcame several obstacles, including the loss of a left front fender, to pull ahead of Jamie McMurray on the last lap of the race. It was Harvick, McMurray, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon finishing in positions one through four.

The Budweiser Shootout is the annual exhibition event which takes place the weekend before the Daytona 500, NASCAR’s premier championship race which kicks off the Sprint Cup Series. With Daytona International Speedway officially warmed up, the excitement is in the air for this coming weekend’s spree of events:

Thursday, February 12th Gatorade Duel Preliminary Qualifier for Daytona 500

Friday, February 13th Daytona 250 Camping World Truck Series

Saturday, February 14th Camping World 300 Nationwide Series

Sunday, February 15th Daytona 500 Sprint Cup Series
