Rutgers Plans Stadium Expansion

On the heels of the on-field success of the Rutgers University football team, the school is planning to renovate the 40,000 seat stadium. Rutgers Stadium currently is one of the smaller stadiums of top college football teams, with a listed capacity of 41,500 seats. But the expansion, which is reported to cost around $100M, would increase the capacity to 60,000 seats. To get to that new capacity, there would be approximately 13,000 seats added and 20 luxury suites.

Rutgers Stadium opened in 1994. It is the largest on-campus stadium in New Jersey. It currently has a waiting list of almost 10K fans who are wanting to order season tickets. So expanding the stadium gives Rutgers a great opportunity to earn more money from the additional seats.
