Does My Child Need a Ticket to go to a NHL Game?
Fans looking to bring kids to a NHL game, often are confused if they need to purchase tickets for their kids, or if they will be allowed to enter the stadium for free. While there is no master NHL child ticket policy, each team does allow for free admittance to a certain group of children based on either a height, or age requirement. The majority of NHL teams allow for free child admittance for kids who have yet to reach their 2nd birthday, while a number of other teams have slightly more generous free admittance policies. We have put together a complete list of Child Ticket Policies for all 30 NHL teams, so you know exactly what to expect when bringing a child to an NHL game.

21 of the NHL’s 30 teams allow for free admittance for children under 2 years old. 5 teams push that limit an extra year, allowing families to bring children under the age of 3 into their venues for free. But the Buffalo Sabres take the prize for the most generous child ticket policy, allowing for free admittance for children under the age of 4. While that policy definitely allows families some freedoms in purchasing tickets, please remember, that any child that does not possess a valid ticket, will be required to sit on the lap of a parent or guardian during the game and will not have access to their own seat. 3 teams offer free child admittance based on the height of the child, with the New York Islanders allowing for children under 34″ to enter for free, and the Canucks and Blackhawks allowing children under 36″ to have free admittance.
