The 144th Kentucky Derby: The Facts You Never Knew

This year marks the 144th renewal of the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports! What you need to know:
The Kentucky Derby will run, rain or shine. The only thing that could affect the running is lightning.
Gates open at 8:00 AM and shuttle services begin at 7:00 AM – for information on parking/shuttle services, click here.
Be sure to check the section’s guidelines for any possible dress code.
A mint julep is simply, whiskey, water, sugar and mint leaves.

Items permitted through the gates of Churchill Downs: 

Boxed Lunches in a Clear Plastic Bag, Water & Soft Drinks – in plastic bottles only, Baby & Diaper Bags, Purses smaller than 12″ of any dimension., Binoculars, cell phones, sunscreen, strollers, chairs, blankets are all encouraged.

Items not-permitted through the gates of Churchill Downs: 

Coolers, Cans, Tents, Laptop Computers, Tripods, Selfie Sticks, Alcohol, Umbrellas, Weapons, Drones, Hover-boards, Animals (with the exception of service animals for guests with disabilities)
