The Week in TicketCity Search – January 7th
My vacation is over, it’s a New Year, and why not start anew by not troubling ourselves with what ranked last week. This week we see the last major college bowls rise to the top, along with that other most notable of bowls, the Super one, placing a strong #3. The fight between the Cotton Bowl and the BCS was pretty close, and despite the rather heightened interest the BCS has generated this year, Cotton claimed the top spot.
The rest of the list is chocked full of concert performers touring this winter and spring. Oh, and monster trucks.
Holding steady from the end of last year are George Strait and Taylor Swift, and they’re joined by fellow country artist Kenny Chesney. Kenny and Taylor will be on tour starting in March while George is kicking off his tour in Austin this month.
Monster Jam is back this winter and, yes, some weekends you can catch shows on SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! Though most of them appear to be Friday and Saturday, which I find a little disappointing. That line was kind of like an Internet meme before there was an actual Internet.
New to the countdown is Linkin Park, who is bringing their “A Thousand Suns Tour” to the states after having played dates in Europe, Australia, and South America. The tour supports their latest album, coincidentally entitled A Thousand Suns. Kid Rock pops back into the countdown as does Gaga, who will also be back in the states shortly as the Monster Ball Tour rolls on.
