Toronto Raptors Are the Surprise of the Early NBA Season
The Toronto Raptors have begun this season with a very strong start, winning sixteen of their first twenty-two games this year. That’s good enough for first place in the Eastern Conference, ahead of the Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards by a game, and leading the Cleveland Cavaliers by two games.
With the Raptors performing so well, it has translated into greater demand for Raptors tickets. Below is a breakdown of the top five most expensive home games of the season for the Raptors.
March 4th vs. Cleveland Cavaliers | Average Ticket Price = $295 | Get-in Ticket Price = $73
When LeBron James comes to town, it’s almost always guaranteed to be the most expensive game of the season. The Cavaliers hosted the Raptors Tuesday evening in a game that the Raptors led by seven points entering the fourth quarter. But the Cleveland defense picked up the pressure in the final quarter, holding the Raptors to just thirteen points and holding on for a 105-101 victory.
Raptors vs. Cavs tickets start at $73 for the game, which is actually lower than one other game on this list, but the average price of $295 is the highest rate for any game this season.
March 27th vs. Los Angeles Lakers | Average Ticket Price = $287 | Get-in Ticket Price = $48
Despite the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers have started with a woeful six wins in their first twenty-two games, the Lake Show always gets fans in attendance. Led by Kobe Bryant, the Lakers are one of the biggest road draws this season, especially considering Kobe’s career will most likely end soon. He’s on pace to break a few more records this season, so you never know what you’re going to get when Bryant hits the hardwood.
February 27th vs. Golden State Warriors | Average Ticket Price = $278 | Get-in Ticket Price = $63
The Warriors have been incredible to begin the year, blistering out to an 18-2 start that includes a thirteen game win streak following a 5-2 start. The Stephen Curry-led Warriors team have been very strong offensively with the fourth highest points per game average in the league (106.9), but it’s been their defense that has been the biggest surprise.
The Warriors are holding teams to an average of just 95.7 points per game, giving them a point differential of 11.2, by far the best in the league.
December 21st vs. New York Knicks | Average Ticket Price = $277 | Get-in Ticket Price = $79
The New York Knicks, much like the Lakers, have been dismal this season. They have won just four of their first twenty-three games and can never seem to close out games late with several excruciating fourth quarter losses. Nonetheless, Carmelo Anthony and company will always be a big road draw and that is once again the case this year.
February 6th vs. Los Angeles Clippers | Average Ticket Price = $273 | Get-in Ticket Price = $59
The Los Angeles Clippers round out the list of the top five most expensive games at the Air Canada Centre. The Clippers have won fifteen of their first twenty games, but that’s good enough for just fifth in the brutal Western Conference, while they would be atop the Eastern Conference. This will be a big pre-All-Star game matchup for the Raptors and an opportunity for them to demonstrate to their fans that they have enough talent to compete with the West’s best.
